Harrison High School
Mitchell High School traveled to Harrison for the Panthers first league game of the season. Cody Lucero got the start for the Panthers. A leadoff hit by Mitchellâs Hawaii started things off for the Marauders in the first inning. A stolen base and two wild pitches later, Mitchell was on the board. Lucero was all strikes after that. He finished the game with 13 strike outs and a complete game. The Panthers were able to get on the scoreboard in the third after Tim Hoagland walked and moved to second base on a balk. Edwin Enriquez followed with a single to center to score Hoagland. The Panthers threatened to score in the fourth but the left the bases loaded. In the bottom of seventh, with the Panthers down 3-1, Justin Maynes hustled to first to leg out a single. He moved in to scoring position after stealing second. Cody Lucero doubled to the fence to score Maynes and put the tying run on second. The Panthers made a valiant effort but fell to the Marauders 3-2.
